Your Business Can Become a Red Cross Hero!

The HEROES for the American Red Cross fundraiser is an event in which people are recruited to serve as HEROES for the American Red Cross. For generations, American Red Cross HEROES have served our communities. In order for the Red Cross to meet our commitments to our communities now and in the future, we need citizens willing to be a HERO for the American Red Cross.
Christine– Ask Christine how long it took to save 14-month-old Matilda's life and she'll have no answer. To her, time froze. In reality, no more than a minute passed before the school teacher from Cape Coral had performed life-saving resuscitation skills on the young toddler who had fallen into a canal and become unconscious. That one minute likely saved Matilda's life, and she and her family have neighbor Christine and her Red Cross CPR training to thank.
Darlene – While away on vacation Darlene and her husband James received bad news from the North Fort Myers Fire Dept – their home was lost to a fire.
They returned the next day to their burned-out home and called the Red Cross. “They came out that day,” Darlene said. “… we would have been lost without them.” Red Cross disaster action team volunteers are
on call 24 hours a day, ready to respond.
Tom – When a co-worker was struck in the head by falling lumber, Tom didn’t panic. Two weeks prior Tom had received Red Cross First Aid training. He used many of the skills he learned to successfully help his co-worker. “It made me react a lot quicker,” Tom said. “…that’s what it’s all about – working as a team and helping one another out.”
Heroes Goals
- To raise at least $50,000 for the American Red Cross of Lee County with minimal cost
- To create a level of visibility usually only seen during a major disaster
- To involve substantial numbers of new volunteers in the chapter
For more than 90 years, the American Red Cross of Lee County has been a hero for thousands of people in our community, lending aid during times of disaster, seeing to the welfare of military families and providing citizens with lifesaving CPR and first aid skills. Now, members of our community are stepping forward to be HEROES for the American Red Cross, each pledging to raise $1,000 to keep the vital services of the Red Cross alive and well in Lee County.
"HEROES for the American Red Cross" is a grassroots campaign in which local business people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs, and individuals pledge to raise $1,000, through any legal means they choose, for the Lee County chapter.
This year, the chapter has set its sights on raising $50,000 during the campaign. The funds will be used to support Red Cross services, such as disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, service to the armed forces, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information for our community. All money raised will support your neighbors in Lee County. If you or your company would like to be a Red Cross Hero, call Kari Hennagin at 239-278-3401 or visit arclcc.org for more information.
